Sorry for all the messages. I don't know how they keep getting to the wrong people.
FROM: bott.marco@cdc.org
Hold him still? Do you think I want to hit him or something?
FROM: bott.marco@cdc.org
Thank you sir, but I don't think there's anything I can do myself to help him. I'm not a doctor, I don't know much about this sickness. I'm sure he's in good hands in medical.
I was thinking you wanted to get water or broth down his throat, maybe something into his veins that'd help. Figured that if you were asking after symptoms you knew something medical.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
Got that wrong, apparently. But I'm glad to know there's more people concerned about him.
Was assigned to his rover, now I'm assigned to his room. I'm teaching him to shoot while trying not to step on any little block things that wind up on the floor.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
So yeah, I know him. And he's sick, but he'll get better. And then he'll answer.
I'll try messaging him again. Maybe he'll get it now. I'm glad he has people to look out for him here. Not that he isn't capable of taking care of himself, but it's good for him, the support.

Like an old married couple then? I kind of got the feeling she doesn't dislike him as much as she says she does. I wasn't going to jump to any conclusions though.
Like an old married human couple, yeah. Definitely not the way my species does things. But it's fun to watch. And sooner or later they're gonna clue in.
[He supposes he should stop assuming everyone on the crew is a human, considering one of his own roommates is a cat.]

It's usually just an expression. Not every married couple argues all the time. But you think Jean could feel the same way?
[It's not outside the realm of possibility. Jean has already been here for the better part of a year, and a lot can change in that stretch of time. With how chaotic everything has been since Marco found himself on the Neheda, he hasn't had the chance to spend as much time with any of his classmates as he had before, and so he hasn't heard so much as a peep of Mikasa pining from Jean.]
Not as much, yet. But it's growing and it's far more than either of them sees coming. All they have to do is stop and think. Then they'll see it. But they're young. It'll take some time still.
I see. Whatever may happen, I hope both of them can be happy. I don't know Ino well, but she seems very spirited and strong-willed. And Jean is my best friend.
[God, they'll probably need a heart-to-heart or something.]
Service together, graduated from the same training class. We ended up getting partnered up for a lot of training assignments since our grades were pretty similar.
[Which is, apparently, as good of a reason as any to become friends. Not that it was the sole reason, but it had kickstarted the whole thing.]
I know. He's very reliable. I'm happy more people are beginning to see that. He's really grown up a lot since our training days.
[He's left feeling that he needs to catch up, in a way, especially now that he knows precisely why there were so many blanks to fill in between the Jean he had become accustomed to and the Jean he's getting to know here. He can't be quite the same person he was back then either, but he doesn't know in which direction he should grow.]
More people will notice as time goes by. He's Blue, and they're gonna have a lot of attention paid to them. Though you're Blue too, so take that as a head's up.
[The young Garrus knows here are starting to grow up fast, and for their sake that's a good thing. It also makes him pretty proud of the ones he's keeping an eye on.]
I'll keep that in mind, sir. And I'm sure he'll rise to the occasion. He might be on Gray now, but Blue will be lucky to have him back when the time comes.
day 79, hope you don't mind another

Is everything ok? I asked what symptoms do you have. You can't just tell me not to worry about it.

Did you get my message? Is this thing broken?

You better be resting. Respond when you wake up, ok?
I don't mind at all!
If you need an escort to his location, I'm a Unit Lead. And if he's ignoring messages asking how he is, I'll even hold him still for you.

Know this wasn't meant for me and I'm not gonna put up with anyone avoiding help that can be forced into it.

Sorry, I'm afraid my medical knowledge doesn't go past basic first aid. I was just worried, he wasn't answering my messages. I guess now I know why.

He's got a lot of little toy things that get everywhere, and sometimes he and Yamanaka decide to harass each other and innocent bystanders.

I hope you reach him. And I've got his back.

Thank you.

You should tell him to clean up his side of the room more. He's getting a little old for that don't you think?
[A well-meaning joke, but tone tends to get lost in these text messages.]
FROM: bott.marco@cdc.org
It sounds like he and Ino bicker a lot. Does it really get that bad between them?

Good description of her. And I didn't know you were Jean's best friend. Known him since childhood? Or service together?
