[Help's nice. Unnecessary in the end, but nice anyway. Angela quickly makes her way to the table, sliding into the empty seat and immediately begins eyeing Garrus up and down. She's never seen anything like him in her life; it's only appropriate her mouth runs in front of her head at this moment.]

[And she means that in the most honest and loving of ways.]

[Worst. Time. Ever. To be taking a drink from his waterglass. Thankfully Garrus manages to get his napkin up in time as he coughs around the drink, which means none of it gets on her. A moment later he's recovered, but damn, he's never going to get used to humans here. Or maybe not even just humans, maybe it's all people openly hitting on him, being that forward, that he has to get used to.

Garrus shakes his head once he's breathing again.]

Uh. Sorry about that. I'm, uh, yeah. We're a tall people. And you're... very human. With the... hair...

[She blinks at him, not a bit sorry for what she's said. It wasn't insulting and it's certainly nothing he needs to apologize for. It was just an observation. Nothing more, nothing less. Just Angela and her filterless mouth.

There's no guarantee interacting with her will get him used to humans.]

Nothing to be sorry about. [Hair? She glances at his head and then subconsciously tugs on her ponytail.] Uh, yeah, hair. I have that, hair. Lots of it.

[One day he'll be good at meeting someone casually. Professionally, he knew what he was doing. A lunch outing? Not so much. But this is about tech and VR machines, so maybe if Garrus starts heading the conversation that way he'll manage to keep from putting his foot in his mouth.]

It's just longer than I've seen it on a lot of people. Then again, mostly worked with humans in the military. Tended to get in the way. ...Safe to guess you're a civilian?

[She glances down at the hair currently twisted between her fingers and purses her lips.]

I haven't had time to get a haircut. [It's less of an excuse and more of a way to make conversation. Nothing's easier than talking about herself.] I hope that doesn't work against me getting the job.

[She's clearly being facetious about that last part; the grin on her face is pretty obvious.]

Definitely a civilian. I used to be something like a contractor for the government, but definitely a civilian.

[Garrus chuckles, starting to relax.]

Masamune doesn't seem to have any sort of dress code, so I think you're good there. And the VR machines don't have a lot of moving parts, which means you're not likely to get the hair caught in anything.

[Which had to be a worry sometimes. Hair was so... flowy.]

What'd you do for the government? If you don't mind me asking.

I hope it doesn't, considering the impression I got that it's a sex club. Kind of hard to have sex in business gear.

[It's obvious she doesn't have any hesitation about working in a potention sex club. God knows if she brought her resume, Garrus would see Masamune wouldn't be her first weird club she's been employed at.]

I worked in a medical-legal lab doing forensics. Dead things, dead people, skeletons needing to be identified. Whatever we figured out, we forwarded to the FBI as evidence for crime solving.

[Very basic description. Here is no place for her to include the emotional aspects of the job.]

I'm sure if anyone can manage sex in business gear, it would be humans.

[His voice is a little wry as the waiter comes over and Garrus orders a couple of slices of a fairly meat-heavy pizza for himself before looking back at her.]

Don't know which acronym FBI is, but that's a pretty important job. Worked the other side of things for a while, solving the crimes, so I always appreciated the assist.

We humans are pretty creative, if I can toot our own horn.

[She tips her water glass in a mock toast. Her order is a bit simpler--one cheese slice, one ham and pineapple and a cola to tag along for the ride. She's never had a job interview while eating pizza so any attempt to remain professional while stuffing hot bread with greasy cheese into her mouth is long dead.]

Federal Bureau of Investigations. They get called in for the big jobs that the local cops can't handle. Serial killers, mobs, pedophiles, anything that crosses state lines... their fingers are in every pot, so to speak. [Angela leans back into her seat.] Lots of Turian crime?

[He raises his in return, amused.]

I worked with C-Sec. Citadel Security, on the largest space station we've got. And we doesn't mean turians, it means all the space-faring races. Worst race for crime isn't turians or humans. On the station? Tends to be vorcha and krogan. Out in space, you're looking more at the batarians. Though you really can't match a human for creativity. Have to give you that.

[Showing just as little hesitation about eating, Garrus takes a bite and nods. It's good. Or, as far as he can tell when it comes to pizza it is.]

So. Tech. You've worked with VR, you said. Written programs. Have you taken a look at these ones yet?

[She notices that hesitation, but doesn't know where it's coming from. The fact that she might watch him closely to see how a Turian eats? There's no curiosity about that. Angela can see he has a mouth and teeth. Doesn't take a space genius to get that.]

I haven't, no. I only spoke to Sephiroth on the network and admittedly, I've never been to Masamune. I'm sorry if I'm looking unprofessional here, but most times, if you've taken apart one VR machine, you've taken apart them all.

Hm.

[It's a neutral sound. He doesn't blame her for not going to Masamune. The club really isn't going to appeal to everyone. But the other...]

Different races, different tech. If you've only worked on human tech there'll be similarities, but...

[And then he trails off. He's not training her for going into space and working on salarian tech, or turian. This is human. Garrus shrugs.]

Close enough. Worked on some human tech, you'll have some of the basics.

[There's a slight raise to her eyebrows as she gets the impression that she may be a little bit out of her league here. Sephiroth didn't say anything against her experience, not that Garrus is doing much of that really, but still. Close enough is good enough. Angela has never backed down from a challenge.]

That was basically my thought process. Whatever it is I don't know, I'll learn. Nobody pops out knowing rocket science.

You never know. Some salarians...

[But his voice is amused.]

Sephiroth's the one in charge of hiring, so that means you've got the job. Not that I would have turned you down. Just saying that there's nothing to worry about there. And we'll just have you swing by Masamune to check out the machines... When are you free?

I'm not worried. I just wanted something to supplement my drawing people's heads in the local park.

[Art is her first love and she would do it for no money at all, but there's rent to pay and she likes to eat. She also likes shoe shopping. These things aren't free.]

Pretty much anytime really. Like I said, I'm practically my own boss right now. I'm free whenever I want to be free.

[Garrus nods, though he's a little preoccupied with the head-drawing thing.]

I have tomorrow off, but the day after tomorrow I've got a morning-til-whenever shift. Drop by in the morning or afternoon and I'll be there. Drop by in the evening and I might still be there. Depends on how many issues have cropped up.

And you... draw people's heads?

[She nods too, taking down a mouthful of pizza before answering.]

Caricatures. There's a Fine Arts degree to go along with my Computer Science one. Makes the forensic reconstruction a little easier when you have a legitimate artistic license.

With caricatures, mostly, though the features are intentionally exaggerated. Nose, chin, that kind of thing is better than usual. With forensics, it's just straight bone structure, though if I can, I have the person smiling or with bright eyes, it makes them feel more alive than. Sometimes it helps with identification via the public. Forensics, in my department, are always humans. Anything else I do is whatever subject I have, so animals, furniture, name it, I've drawn it.

[Angela feels like she's babbling, running on at length about things somebody could find confusing, but he asked and so she answers. This is the risk somebody takes when they bring up the subject of art.]

Video would be great. I'd have a visual reference to work from if I can't get the actual person, but in lieu of that, verbal descriptions help too.

So with video, could you get it close without too much exaggeration? And how much do you charge?

[She'd said supplement, after all. The art talk is pretty interesting, but Garrus knows so little about art he can't actually contribute there.]

Yeah. I don't do exaggeration unless asked for. And it depends on what materials I'm using, exactly what I'm doing, and how big. I need to know exactly what you want to give you a ballpark range.

[She's not going to run him into the ground financial wise, but she isn't going to shortchange her talents. If they agree to a fair price, she'll do whatever he wants.]

[Garrus chuckles.]

Yeah, I don't know anything about materials. Or sizes. It'd be a... A portrait. Sort-of. I think that's the right word. Something I want of someone who could vanish tomorrow.

Portrait comes in all sizes. If my phone worked, I could show you some pictures, but... do you guys use the Imperial system? Metric system? Because it'll be helpful if I could just throw numbers at you.

[Another bite, but before she swallows it, she pushes it into her cheek and takes a sip of water so she can continue talking. So much for table manners.]

Girlfriend? [Just a guess. In her experience, a fair number of men want pictures of their lovers.]

[He glances at the table before taking a napkin and unfolding it some and refolding it, getting it approximately the shape of a tablet.]
