Runs it. The Empire is a hierarchy and although the Emperor is above all else, powerful, ruthless, and heartless Force users (ie Sith) pull all of the important strings.

FROM: kallig.telumi@cdc.org

Believe me, the compassion here is overwhelming in comparison to the Empire. The unit leaders seem to actually care about those in their charge.

I do quite like my teammates and leaders so far. But the Sith will never change. We will always be heartless and thirsty for power, though a thousand new Emperors.

Of course all their people are their strength. Most of those who aren't Sith are slaves or cannon fodder. They have their place.

Governments serve themselves. To believe otherwise would be deluding yourself.

Changing to a soft system like that would require the Sith giving up their power. And we never would.

Military might getting you to the point of destroying planets sounds exactly like something the Empire would do.

FROM: kallig.telumi@cdc.org

You'll have to forgive my callousness, Vakarian. In my experience, people in charge don't change.

In order to change the people in charge, the people doing the changing have to have power. Which they don't, because they've never been allowed to have any.

The downtrodden have to climb up a lot of corpses in order to buy that change and it can take a while to pile them.

But we have more pressing matters at hand. I will see you in Medical.

[ she shows up not much after he does, in full sith attire if only because she trusts it to keep her safe from any mysterious threats better than cdc gear alone can. this hardly feels like a force threat, but still, better to be prepared in what you know. usually the robes and countenance combine to make her look suitably larger than she actually is, but when she pauses a moment to look around before moving over to a turian, there's no denying her diminutive stature. ]

Vakarian?

[ kallig's guess, from his file. but if he has a doppleganger on board, she wouldn't trust herself to determine identifying turian markings at first glance. ]

Yes. [ some part of her wants to correct, insist on the lord, but it seems nitpicky and, moreover, pointless here. a lord of the sith empire, willingly volunteering her time and her talents to people she doesn't know, doesn't even necessarily trust

yeah, this is her trying to make herself look a little taller as she looks up at garrus. (it's not working.) ]

I trust nothing new has developed in the last ten minutes?

[ there's a little pause, confusion until she realizes he's just done his homework. well, haven't they all. ]

It means that my allies do not succumb to their injures in combat because I am better than to allow that. The Force aids me in aiding them, so blaster wounds and burns and broken bones are easy to mend in a hurry.
vinculis: (⚡ shift.)

[personal profile] vinculis 2015-01-04 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Not directly. It's... not a Force-related sickness, so it's like I can't stop a blaster from firing, but I can heal the wounds it causes.

[ and after seeing that look of his, kallig is acutely aware that that is not really enough. not any better than anyone else can do, for all her efforts. her work with orange, with the airlock where rikki's body was found... none of this has given her what any of them need in order to stop the cause. ]

Is there someone I should be keeping a special eye on for you?

[personal profile] vinculis 2015-01-10 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Noh-Varr. [ a nod, she notes the hair, and looks back to garrus. ] I'll be sure to pay attention to him.

[ she has no idea how she'll be able to help at all. but if it turns out she can do something (and garrus can be sure she's going to try) she has no problems playing favourites. not to the point of neglecting someone, but he's worried about someone in particular, they get priority. she has her own biases, too. ]
