Say someone was telling you a story, but in fragments. There was an apple. You don't really care about apples, but you figure it's come up for a reason. Otherwise they wouldn't have mentioned it.

Then you either have to ask about the apple or go "yeah, nice," over and over again. And that gets repetitive.

If you're gonna talk to me, talk to me, not in fragments. If you don't wanna say anything, then don't give me tiny pieces in the first place.

If you wanna tell me about the apple, this DEMON thing, tell me. If you don't, there isn't a reason to bring it up.
FROM: 117@cdc.org The Covenant was waging genocide against the human race because they thought we were impure. According to their Gods, the Forerunners, we were considered unworthy before they "disappeared".
FROM: 117@cdc.org Except they didn't. We were escaping the Covenant fleet as they glassed my home planet and we ended up on an orbital ... ring. A Halo. They considered it to be holy, we tried to use it as a weapon as we were lead to believe.
FROM: 117@cdc.org The Forerunners didn't disappear. They used Halos to destroy their civilization to protect the galaxy from a parasite. Apparently, they thought it was a good idea to house the spores.
FROM: 117@cdc.org The Flood consumes organic tissue, it doesn't care what. They form into a hivemind and they want to consume everything. By me nuking that ring to destroy the local infestation, it started an arms race. The Covenant wanted to activate it for a "great journey" - killing more humans on Earth itself and bringing the Flood to Earth and we needed to stop them.

Extremely. It was the beginning of something larger.

Oh, good. And here I was worried you were going to be unhelpful and vague again. Glad you weren't. Wait, no, you were.

It's something very specific to my galaxy. I didn't realize you cared.

Fair, if flawed, point.

Thank you. That's a lot easier to follow.

Take it the Covenant isn't an organic species? They're synthetic?
no subject
No. They are - were - a group of alien species.

Why did they think the Flood wouldn't turn on them when it was done with humanity?
no subject
They thought that the "Great Journey" would give them salvation. They weren't wrong.
