We've been able to send a message before, even if we couldn't get one back. And this time we've got the name of a ship. You might be able to communicate with him. It couldn't hurt to ask.

The list is better than it could have been, and worse than it should have been.

Think it might be pretty important to keep in mind that the neraki overpowered a dragon, and not underestimate them.
I think they were temporarily with us. This would be the fourth time that we ran into other recruits, fourth time we were parted. Those three times, we saw some of them again later.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
Twice on the planet on fire, once on Selena. Only reason I didn't think there might be a connection earlier was because they've never joined in our mission before.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
I figure we wait and see. Give it a few weeks. We might see some of them again. If we don't, then maybe they were just on loan to help us get the captives back.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
There someone in particular you're thinking about?
You're right about that, actually. Now that I think about it, there were several recruits I ran into on Selena who didn't make it to the Neheda.
[Is it really down to a matter of waiting and hoping? Logically, he knows that's the best option right now. But Guy's heart and mind had a tendency to conflict with one another. Maybe a little too often.]
FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org
I'm really obvious about this, aren't I? Yeah. I ran into a few friends from home.
[So it wasn't just him, then. The difference in knowledge he discovered between him and his friends had been a shocking surprise, to say the least. He imagines it's discouraging to go through that multiple times, catching up with a different "friend" with each meeting only to see them go.]
FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org
This is all over my head. [He's not afraid to admit that.] I understand the CDC can pick up anyone from any world. But from a different time? That's a headache waiting to happen.
[While he'd meant he'd seen different people at different locations, the other still holds true. They're all pulled from different points in their timelines.]
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
If you can already cross universes, why not time? And parallel universes, too. Not all of us remember the same thing.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
From big things to little. I remember a death that someone else doesn't. Someone else remembered me seeing someone that I'm not involved with.
[He had his doubts shortly after signing on with the CDC. He'd done his best after Luke's departure to strive for his dream of a better world--had moved back to his homeland to remind himself of where he could do the most good, had pushed for replica rights--but the crew's mission threw everything out of focus. Macha hadn't helped matters. Neither had seeing Luke and the rest of his friends.
What was he to do when every inch of him was yelling at him to ditch the Neheda to find them? Even though he reminds himself about what it'd spell for Auldrant, this dangerous fear won't go away. Who was he supposed to help, here? His friends who weren't from his time, or his planet and those friends?
But Garrus is right. What matters is a decision that won't keep him up at night with regret.]

You think so?

I'll see if I can't bother one of the instructors, then. Thanks, Garrus.

You're right about the list. But there's been something that's been bugging me about it.
no subject
There's a chance. And anytime, Guy.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
What's bugging you?

Someone's mentioned it already. For all we know, the paperwork's stuck in bureaucracy but... shouldn't that list should be longer?
FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org
We had a lot of new recruits. A lot of people.
[People he knew.]

Only obvious because I've run into friends all four of the times. So I get it.

Luke fon Fabre. Redhead, swordsman. Jade Curtiss. Military man with red eyes. Anise Tatlin. She would've been carrying a doll on her back.

Both. It's both.

I'm sorry, Guy. I don't think I met any of them.

There was.
[Like attacks, and kidnapping... There will never be a peaceful week here, he's pretty sure.]

Yeah, though different ones at different times. It changes, and I'm starting to wonder if maybe they've got all of us here in different places.
