[ When the image appears, Red leans in his head to examine the image closer, glancing to the device that it comes from as well. That's a pretty specific example.
As for the question, he pulls back. ] No. That's... this thing, right?
[ Wait a minute, he's getting this thing with a scramble through his pocket for where he'd deposited it when searching through his bag earlier. He pulls out the device. ]
Someone told me about it before, but I never got around to figuring it out. [ Technology is weird... ] There's really a bestiary on here? What else?
[Slowly Garrus' mandibles flare out as Red has to search for his blackglass. Once it's out, Garrus is nodding. He pulls his own out so he can show Red the interface.]
There's messaging, a couple games, but... here.
[Garrus calls up the bestiary.]
Flora, that's plants, and fauna, animals. Tells you some of the things that are safe, some of the things to avoid. Not all of them. Use caution with anything you come across. But it's got some important entries.
[ Did Red just miss Garrus's face move??? What a tragedy.
He watches how Garrus brings it up himself, and he's sure it's only by some luck that he's able to get it on to bring up the interface with how clumsy his hands feel holding the blackglass. The mention of games catches Red's interest (as--odd, for a word), but he follows to the bestiary.
For a piece of technology handed to him while assisting to destroy an entire planet, Red still can't help but be impressed when the page pops up for the fauna, a small 'wow' escaping him. ]
Is there a map too? [ He pokes a finger to the pop up screen. Can he get it to scroll... ] Can I go anywhere?
It's got notes from the mapping teams, but it's not exactly precise. And you can go anywhere, but I wouldn't really suggest it. You should have already run into the neraki, yeah? They've got scattered tribes all over and they're not really fans of us. Plus you can see what animals aren't friendly from the list.
If you wanna go somewhere, I'd suggest asking an instructor.
[There's a beat before Garrus tilts his head, contemplating getting a hold of an instructor.]
Haven't... actually seen Armada around today. Or a couple of days. So maybe go with asking Neheda or Gliese.
[ Sure, things might not be friendly, but... Red can't argue about the neraki though, and he's sure that he wouldn't want to bump into them. ]
Okay... [ Still he looks thoughtful, eyeing the map Garrus brought up. ] Even if I want to go outside the camp to look for food? Charizard will get hungry.
Are there any bags or baskets we could take? [ Wait, let him bring up a hand and poke a finger against the palm as he thinks. ] So we can get food, sticks... but leave the trees alone.
[Garrus chuckles before nodding. The boy's rather young, and that's not always a bad thing.]
Alchemy, yeah. I think it could. So you could bring him some first, and then see what you can get for charizard and yourself and possibly others. And let me know if you wind up needing a hand.
[Red might be able to adapt. Garrus is glad of this.]
Alright. Is there a place I can find you if I need you? Um, [ And he looks around. ] but you could probably be anywhere at any time, huh... I remember the days last forever here.
[The hint is lost on the boy, but maybe it's better that way. Garrus nods as Red starts reading the names.]
You'll get to know the people. The list'll seem less daunting, then.
[And more sad, because as much as Garrus wants to prevent further deaths, he doesn't know that their efforts will succeed. And there will almost definitely be more transfers, too.]
Alright. [ He smiles, just holding a second longer before he speaks again to take in Garrus's appearance. ] Thanks. I'll send some messages and see what people say and let you know.
[ And just another pause, but hesitantly so, his smile dipping some into apologetic territory. ] And... I'm sorry again about earlier.

[Garrus calls up the sector map.]

[ And him, but Charizard comes first. ]

[Because if they get lucky and find something big that they can take down and eat, there's no point in wasting the meat.]

[A beat.]
Or ask one of the Elric brothers. Edward or Alphonse. They may be able to make you a basket. And good thinking.

Remember how I said it could do messages?
[He pulls up the name options, and selects his own name.]
This is how you send a message just to me. Doesn't mean it's private, but it's not public.
no subject
So like e-mail! Well, it doesn't matter if it's private.
[ Red cannot see the bigger picture. He brings up his blackglass again, fiddling with it... wow, it's fiddly. There's some squinting, but... ]
Do I select contacts? [ And you know what, he does as he asks. ] Oh-- wow... that's a lot of names...
[ He'll... begin scrolling down now... ]

Yeah. Just find them by their name, and you can message them.

Thanks back. I appreciate it.
[At least the kid clearly hadn't meant anything by it, and he seems genuinely apologetic. Garrus can easily forgive him.]
Good luck with that, and I'll see you around.
[And with that, he's ready to head off to see if anyone else needs help.]
