If you think you could get laid right now, you're overestimating yourself a little, big guy.
[Even if he could find somebody who'd get naked with a half-dead guy, Joker seriously doubts that he'd actually be able to do anything about it. Garrus is having enough trouble just staying upright, nevertheless anything more strenuous.]
[He sets the box down and starts sorting through its contents.]
Speaking of Doc Sparkle, man he's touchy. Asked for a little clarification about the chirality of some of this shit and he nearly bit my head off. So half the stuff he gave me is herbal, beats the hell out of me how good it is.
[There it is-- the small pill bottle with those few doses of painkiller that Anders could spare. He waves it in Garrus' direction and the pills rattle inside.]
I'd say the stronger bet's on these, anyway. [But, before he hands them over...] You gotten a shot of nanites yet?
[It's not like his lover had been feeling overly energetic either. A little relieved that it's not some sort of plant he has to eat and then wait on, Garrus holds out his hand only to roll his eyes at the question.]
Like I was stupid enough to not have them on hand.
[He'd been stupid enough to not prepare for quite as much as he needed - without Ino and Jean he doesn't know what shape he would be in, but at least he'd had nanites there and ready. And been given them.]
Is this going to be some sort of interrogation, or are you going to actually give me those?
Just checking, Garrus. Might not be a bad idea for you to take another dose to help things along.
[He'd been fully prepared to deal with Vakarian's particular brand of idiocy-- that is, he has his own nanites with him and would have totally held the painkillers hostage in order to shoot him up.]
[He tosses the pill bottle onto the bed next to Garrus.]
Here. Take one of those, wait like half an hour and see how you're doing. That's pretty strong stuff, so one ought to do you.
[Garrus takes the pill bottle, opening it up as he tries to figure out how he's doing, overall.]
I don't wanna abuse them is the thing. I'm functioning, not in danger, supplies of nanites are low, and we don't know what's coming next.
[A little stiffly he grabs his canteen and takes the pill, mandibles drawing in at the bitter taste left in his mouth. No reason to complain, though. This should mean the pain goes away.]
If we've got a few days' break, time to heal, before the next thing decides to attack our camp, then I should take advantage of that. We get attacked sooner, I'll take another dose so I'm on my feet and helping.
[He doesn't look bad enough for Joker to force the issue; he sure as hell looked worse when he took a rocket to the face, and he was back up and on duty pretty shortly after that. A few days of taking it easy with their good friend Mr. Opioid should fix him up.]
You want me to stick the rest of this somewhere? I dunno how much you want to stake on it, but if you're in the mood for some tea that smells approximately like a krogan's ass, you're set for it.
Krogan ass. One of the scents that just never sold well on Palaven. Heard it's a real hit on Omega, though.
[He chuckles, sound a mixture of amusement and pain, before he shifts to lean against the bedpost and put his feet up on the bed.]
If you don't mind leaving it there, that'd work. Not the only one in the rover hit with this so it can be available if Isha limps her way back too. And Joker?
[Garrus' voice gets serious.]
Thanks.
[Sure, crew looks out for each other. He hadn't really expected any less of Joker. That doesn't mean he takes it for granted, though, or that he appreciates it any less.]
[Joker waves him off, then stacks up the rest of the medical supplies on the counter. Anders wants his box back at some point, and apparently Joker's going to have to brave the mighty blond bitchface at least once more today.]
Don't mention it, Vakarian. Just buy me a beer or something later.
[All debts to Joker could be easily repaid with sufficient quantities of alcohol.]
[Between the shit he's gone through and the painkillers that should be kicking in fairly shortly, it's really kind of too much to expect Garrus to be up for an extended conversation. He's tapped out, and it's pretty obvious.]
[He walks over and gives Garrus another pat on the shoulder. That'll do, birdman. That'll do.]
Yeah, I think I'd settle for a glass of go the fuck to sleep, Vakarian. Think you can do that for me?
[He's shamefully proud that he also managed a joke. Garrus scoots down, starting to stretch out on the bed and yanking one of his blankets halfway over him. Exhaustion is sinking in and the edges of pain are starting to dull out. Halfway is the best he's doing.]
And who knows. Maybe they'll even have that... [He trails off for a moment, yawning, before he continues.] Brand.
Call me mom again and I'll smother you in your sleep.
[Do not make him be Team Mom, Garrus. No one wants Joker to have to be the responsible one around here, it's not his usual role and you will all regret putting him in it.]
Yeah, okay. You just... just go to sleep, Garrus. [He could practically see down to your gizzard on that yawn, birdbrain. It's sleepytime for tired turians.] Call me if you need anything else, and maybe if you ask nice enough, I'll even do it.
[Lies. He'd do it, because he's a sucker for his stupid crew.]
[Despite the teasing, Garrus curls up and closes his eyes, cooperating. Joker's right, he needs the sleep, and Joker is even lying on the maybe. But there's nothing Garrus particularly needs right now that he doesn't have - pain meds, some time to heal - and so he's not going to challenge the bluff.]
I'll let you know, Joker.
[There's the brief temptation to ask if Joker can wrangle up a Kree pillow, but all of the explanation that would have to go into that makes it far too much to talk about right now.]

[It's a promise, though it's also a bit murmured. He'd woken up to let Joker in, and his body is definitely betraying him.]
You've got it. I'll have enough money after this. When we can shop again.
[He's trying to keep his eyes open enough to not be rude. It's not working very well.]
You got a specific one you want?
[Now he'll have to see if he can remember anything Joker names.]
