Do you want to get close again? Do you want to put the effort in? Because friendship is worth it, and there's a decent chance he'd want the same thing back.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
He had a Red before. Why wouldn't he want you to be his friend again?
Like I'd leave any of you alone when you're panicking about something. You're not technically my Leapfrogs anymore, but technical doesn't really matter here.
[He leans forward to take a closer look at the egg as Zuko starts the water.]
They're still working. Looks like you're gonna have a strong one. Though, you know, dragon. Sorta means strong. You got names picked out yet?
[ Building connections in self reliance! But it's really not a conversation she wants to have - more an offhand, cryptic observation in the first place - hence letting it fall to the wayside. ]
Give them away, mostly. You can wear them too, but I'm not much of a flower crown person.
[ Not that anyone has worn these the like... handful of times she made them, but leaving them on stones in meadows sounds more ridiculous than anything else. They were just throwaway pretty things that hadn't meant anything in the long run, just saved her hands from being idle. ]
The animals probably wouldn't object.
[ Like Miaksa Like any of the... they really don't have many vegetarian animals hanging around camp, do they? Well... like the horses that mostly don't exist. Yeah. ]
The animals wouldn't know what to do with it. I'd prefer to stick it on someone who knows. ...Or who also doesn't know what to do, but at least knows what it is. You know. So when they give me a weird look it's more because it's me and not because some random large being just plopped something on their head.
[His mandibles draw close to his face as he makes a mistake and has to backtrack, undoing some of the crown before he can continue.]
[ There's a pause as Sebastian considers it, but he ends up nodding, since there's something he can gain here. ]
I would appreciate that greatly, actually. There is an issue of access, so while I am happy to comb through information for quite a while, there is a limit to what I can read through... If you would keep your messages and would be willing to allow me to read through older notifications on your Blackglass, I can inform you of anything I find.
[ Or forward it to Sebastian?? idk how this works ]
Though I understand that is not quite fair, so in confidence of my ability, I can at least give you what I have discovered from what I have accessed thus far. It would take about... twenty minutes or so to transcribe it, give or take.
[ He has it all in mind, after all, so it's just a matter of transferring it to paper. ]
But that alone is very interesting in line with certain things I have discovered, I will admit. They are all simply pieces, but together, they certainly imply something quite intriguing. We are pawns here, of that I have no doubt, but the more I look into the larger game, the more I am interested by what we play at.
[It could sound like bragging, but she mostly sounds tired. Some of the previous day's wounded pride and anger has drained out of her. Time sleeping on the roof of a rover instead of inside it will do that. Her cuff is visible, all the color drained from it.]
[ A pony who belongs to a chessmaster. Would you feed that pony? ]
No. I was more interested in asking you about shooting guns.
[ She says, looking at his own chain of flowers. Whatever she sees is good enough to her; she blinks, seems to nod to herself, and then adds another flower in to her own chain. ]
And if you knew anything about how these cuffs work in general.
[ She rolls her wrist to indicate the cuff found there, like with everyone else. ]
[Her thoughtful expression tightens a little into concern - and then, at a certain point, her brows shoot up. When he finishes, she's looking down into her drink, quiet for a moment, and then:]
Sorry, I didn't mean to dredge this up. But I-- [A clear note of incredulous anger seeps into her voice.] He's with somebody else?
[To Tali's ears, without the proper context and knowing what's going on, just sounds a hell of a lot like, 'Noh-Varr is cheating on her friend'. And she's more than ready to get righteously indignant on Garrus's behalf.]
I can let you read through things that might be relevant.
[There are some conversations that should be private. Like almost all of the ones between himself and Noh-Varr. Some of the ones he's had with Armada as well, so long as the topic is himself and not larger matters. Garrus doesn't want the demon to see his insecurities, see weaknesses. He respects Sebastian. But he's also familiar with what stories say demon nature is.]
Especially if you've got something specific you're looking for. Can try to see what might line up there for you. And when you've gotten things written down, I'd appreciate that look.
[ It's about the answer he expected, and as such, Sebastian doesn't seem to be put off by the condition there at all. If anything, he seems perfectly gracious, smiling as he nods with clear appreciation. ]
I understand, and thank you for this much concession. I need not dig into anything that was not publicly available to begin with, nor will I be looking through the writings of fellow recruits... I wish to look through only those made by the instructors or otherwise. I felt theirs would be the best place to start.
Guess I get to carry everything with me now. Sleep in a tent. Even less privacy now than I had before.
[She's possibly the most upset about that, at the moment. Sharing space with people has been difficult enough for her when she could still pull a curtain or a privacy shutter. Now she doesn't even have that, and even though she's curled up on top of or under her former rover every time she's dozed off, she's been so tense and ready for something or someone to grab her now that she has no walls to protect her, that she's slept very little and very poorly.
Not that she sleeps very well anyway.]
We've had two huge things come into camp and try to kill everyone. Doing this? Doing it now? Seems kind of stupid.
