[Confused, angry. But most of all, tired.]

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

I've been better. I'm alive, though. There's not much to complain about when you've got that.

Ha ha, and here I came to check up on you.

[He doesn't mind it much. He'll be honest and concise with his answer.]

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

One of them was. Kouha Ren? You might've known him.

[He hadn't voiced his concerns on the network post. Despite his friendly demeanor, he's someone who prefers to keep his thoughts private, to minimize problems rather than to blow them up. Don't think about it, Zelos had told him. But it's difficult not to.

He's not someone who'd normally seek someone out to talk to but... here he was. If it's normalized in some way, aired out, maybe he can tuck it aside.]

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

Yeah. He'll dazzle his new crew, I'm sure. He's a good friend. I'd like for the chance to see him again.

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

That list could've been worse. I don't know. This mission's been... something.

You think so?

[A glimmer of hope is better than none, he supposes.]

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

I'll see if I can't bother one of the instructors, then. Thanks, Garrus.

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

You're right about the list. But there's been something that's been bugging me about it.

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

Someone's mentioned it already. For all we know, the paperwork's stuck in bureaucracy but... shouldn't that list should be longer?

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

We had a lot of new recruits. A lot of people.

[People he knew.]

You're right about that, actually. Now that I think about it, there were several recruits I ran into on Selena who didn't make it to the Neheda.

[Is it really down to a matter of waiting and hoping? Logically, he knows that's the best option right now. But Guy's heart and mind had a tendency to conflict with one another. Maybe a little too often.]

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

I'm really obvious about this, aren't I? Yeah. I ran into a few friends from home.

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

You can imagine my surprise.

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

Man, I don't know if your luck's great or horrible.

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

Luke fon Fabre. Redhead, swordsman. Jade Curtiss. Military man with red eyes. Anise Tatlin. She would've been carrying a doll on her back.

It's fine. There was a lot going on when the new recruits arrived.

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

You said you've run into your friends several times, now?

[personal profile] akisazame 2015-03-19 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
[So it wasn't just him, then. The difference in knowledge he discovered between him and his friends had been a shocking surprise, to say the least. He imagines it's discouraging to go through that multiple times, catching up with a different "friend" with each meeting only to see them go.]

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

This is all over my head.
[He's not afraid to admit that.] I understand the CDC can pick up anyone from any world. But from a different time? That's a headache waiting to happen.

[True enough. Thing 1 and Thing 2 Peter Parker illustrated this point well.]

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

Hell, it's not exactly something we can avoid, either.

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

Doesn't it get you wondering if you'll run into yourself one of these days?

I wonder. It'd be convenient to know the future. But that can lead to dependency.

FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org

You could become obsessed with attaining a favorable future, or in destroying an unpleasant one. Sometimes, ignorance is bliss.

It sounds easy when you put it like that.

Not that it's bad.
