[Whoops, it was about assignments. His bad. But at least they're on the topic of Guy now anyway. ...until they aren't.]
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
I did.
[One of Garrus' former leapfrogs.]

Neheda's said that transfers were safer, before. But they've never been traded to another ship before, so I don't know what that means. But Ren's a good kid. Has a good heart, learns fast.
[He hadn't voiced his concerns on the network post. Despite his friendly demeanor, he's someone who prefers to keep his thoughts private, to minimize problems rather than to blow them up. Don't think about it, Zelos had told him. But it's difficult not to.
He's not someone who'd normally seek someone out to talk to but... here he was. If it's normalized in some way, aired out, maybe he can tuck it aside.]
FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org
Yeah. He'll dazzle his new crew, I'm sure. He's a good friend. I'd like for the chance to see him again.
FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org
That list could've been worse. I don't know. This mission's been... something.
We've been able to send a message before, even if we couldn't get one back. And this time we've got the name of a ship. You might be able to communicate with him. It couldn't hurt to ask.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
The list is better than it could have been, and worse than it should have been.

Think it might be pretty important to keep in mind that the neraki overpowered a dragon, and not underestimate them.
[There's a beat as he slowly gets to his feet to see her out.]
We kept more people alive than we were supposed to. More survived Ajna than he wanted. So that's one reason he dislikes Green. But there are probably others.
[The world is kinda whirling now, actually, and Garrus frowns as his glass. This did not pull any punches.]
If you're sure you can walk. If you're not, you could rest a while here. Screechers aren't due to go on, or off, for hours yet.
[Samus furrows a brow at Garrus. More survived than he wanted?? What? This was the first she'd ever heard of that attitude of Dagger's towards the recruits... Did his viewpoint reflect that of the CDC? Conflict?]
Failing to see how that's not a good thing.
[She can't even think very clearly on it.
Samus attempts to force herself up to her feet, head swimming as she plants them firmly on the ground. She pushes herself up, but stumbles, and has to cling to the wall to keep from falling down. Her eyes close shut.]
Don't want to stick around... don't want other people seeing me...
I think they were temporarily with us. This would be the fourth time that we ran into other recruits, fourth time we were parted. Those three times, we saw some of them again later.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
Twice on the planet on fire, once on Selena. Only reason I didn't think there might be a connection earlier was because they've never joined in our mission before.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
I figure we wait and see. Give it a few weeks. We might see some of them again. If we don't, then maybe they were just on loan to help us get the captives back.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
There someone in particular you're thinking about?
You're right about that, actually. Now that I think about it, there were several recruits I ran into on Selena who didn't make it to the Neheda.
[Is it really down to a matter of waiting and hoping? Logically, he knows that's the best option right now. But Guy's heart and mind had a tendency to conflict with one another. Maybe a little too often.]
FROM: cecil.guy@cdc.org
I'm really obvious about this, aren't I? Yeah. I ran into a few friends from home.
No! I just went to look at a sound I heard nearby. It was them! And they didn't like anyone realizing that they were watching us, I guess. Hibari did something really stupid and actually protected me, too. From rocks! Gross. And unnecessary! But whatever. [ The look on her face - which is pretty much just :T - says how she feels about that. ]
[As one relationship crashes and burns, another seems to build.]
He protected you, hm? He must care about you to do that.
[They'd come into the room together when he and Noh-Varr had been kissing, the one time. And she'd teased Kyouya, too. He doesn't know how he's really feeling about things right now, about encouraging relationships, especially here, but he can't be rude to Vriska.
[He's of the opinion that it's not selfish to mourn when you need to. Her father is dead. Will be dead. That's a serious loss and Garrus doesn't think anything poorly of this.]
I don't mind, Tali. And your Aunt's fine. She recused herself. Didn't want to be a part of what the other Admirals were doing. I should have said that from the start but it slipped my mind. She was still rooting for you. You didn't lose them both.
[Because the 'they both' was pretty clear.]
And you've got people on the Normandy. They can't replace what you've lost. But we're here for you. Vas Neema or vas Normandy. Or von, when you drink too much.
[Maybe it does mean that they kept some people around that natural selection would have removed. Or unnatural, in the case of the CDC. Garrus doesn't care. They deserve a chance to survive too.]
And you're having trouble standing up, Samus. I'll pull the curtain around? Sit on a stool, or maybe Yamanaka's bed, until we're both more steady?
[ For some reason she seems to find his forgetfulness on that topic sweet, and perks up just a little. ]
It's okay. I don't blame you. So much has already happened, it's hard to believe we haven't been here longer. [ Tilting her head back, she gazes up at the sky, sighing through her nose. ]
What was it like, being up there all the time? It's so dark. I think I'd miss the sky.
